If you purchased photo jewelry from Tribal Evolution at either of these events and have had trouble with the piece, please let me fix it for you.

That was the first batch of jewelry like this and I have since found an adhesive that works so much better. Ocassionally, the glue really stuck, but for the most part with a slight jar, it would separate the slick surfaces.

I will be at the Unmata event in Austin this weekend or you can mail it to me (P.O. Box 1398 Hurst, TX 76053). I want you to be happy with the piece you purchased.

New Session Begins July 8 and 10

A new 4 week session.
The Basics class is a faster, condensed version of an 8 week session, all the same info, just quicker.
Intermediate class is going to focus on lots of dance. I want to focus on adding one formation change and adding two new moves to the vocab.
Advanced and Tribal Echo are working on a rocking new choreo piece to be debuted at YHY.
TE is about to embark on a kewl sword piece to be debuted (fingers crossed ~ @ Kismet).

Remember, we will have the month of August off from regular classes and start back Sept. 16 and 18 (I think, but don't hold me to that date cause the Rec. Center book is not out yet!)

Mark these dates for 2009!

I know, what happened to 2008?! Well, it is still in the works 6 months out. If a late date in 2008 actually works out it would be the weekend of November 8-9, 2008. If not, here are the dates and folks Tribal Evolution has lined up to sponsor in 2009:

February 6-8, 2009 FatChanceBellyDance in 15 hours of General Skills Certification Classes
April 16-19, 2009 TRAMP (co-produced with Bahaia's HOT Events) This date may change by a weekend depending on camp availability and star availability.
November 7-8, 2009 UNMATA Rockin' it as they do so well
There is possibly another last minute event that will be squeezed in the 2009 calendar (somewhere!!), but I don't have any details at this time.

Further details are not available yet for 2009 events, but I will post here as soon as they are available.

What you can be sure of is a great event, not overcrowded, with lots of personal touches and an indepth study with each of these instructors. Oh, and of course a fabulous show and super hawt after partay!!

Hope to see you all before 2009 though!!

New Sessions Start June 3rd and June 5th

Yeah, the break is over and back to classes I go!!

Tuesdays: 7-8 P.M. Basics, 8-9 P.M. Intermediate, 9-9:45 P.M. Advanced
Thursdays: 7-8 P.M. Basics, 8-9:45 P.M. Tribal Evolution

Classes run in 4 week sessions for the summer. We have the week of July 4th off. Then another 4 week session begins. Classes are so cheap, so you can cover your gas to get there!! Registration is open for both sessions now to both Hurst residents and non-Hurst residents!!

I'm a new student in the beginning and intermediate classes on Tuesday and I live in North Dallas. It's so loooonely dancing alone and I was wondering if there were any other students in the area that would want to get together and practice on a non-class day and reinforce what we're learning in class. I'm going to AW for a moment

For those that don't play on message boards often, AW is for "attention whore".

Yes, I am going to play attention whore for a second. Why? 'Cause I am pumped after working on choreography ths weekend and tonight.

I just finished writing a wicked cool drum solo. I am very proud of this, it is fun, cute, powerful, blah, blah, blah.

Maybe you are like me - I have always struggled with drum solos because I am a more flowy dancer and not a real sharp and shimmy dancer like the drum solo calls for. However, I developed some really cool combos for this drum solo that I am very proud of.

If you want to learn it (and I want to share it), consider joining my class on Wednesday at 5:30 at www.thedancecompanydfw.com

We will learn it in 5 weeks.
Then we have the opportunity to perform it at the school's recital in June and I have a few other places up my sleeve that I want to show this off.... are you game?

TE Classes Resume June 3rd and 5th

We just finished an eight week session this week. There is no make-up class next Thurs. You can make that Thurs. up in the next session if you like on a Tues. Classes will resume on Tues June 3rd and Thurs. June 5th. Registration is already underway at the Hurst Rec. Center (700 Mary Drive Hurst, 76053). The next two sessions are four week sessions.

Drum solo and combos class with Yeli

The Intermediate/ Advanced Combos and Choreography class with Yeli at the Dance Company in Arlington will start our next choreography next Wednesday (May 5th). The class is at 6:30 on Wednesdays. The 1st month of tuition at the Dance Company is FREE!!

Drum Solo is the dance of choice for this class.

If you were looking for a time to join us, now would be the time!

Learn a new and exciting drum solo choreography with Yeli! There will be an opportunity to perform in the community at the conclusion of the choreography.

Henna night anyone?

Hello,

I've been out of class for three weeks and feeling kind of low. I thought a night of henna might be a good thing. I could probably squeeze 10 people or so into my apartment. I have to look for henna because I think I threw out all of my Jamila when I left Tallahassee, so if anyone in the north Dallas area knows a good Indian grocery that carries it, let me know. I will mix up and provide the henna if anyone that comes can bring their own cones or squeeze bottles. (If I find some at the grocery I will buy some and let you know.)

Just so you know, I'm in no way a henna artist myself. I just love it and I have a few good resource books that we can look at if you want to copy a design. Of course, you can always do your own! :)

BYOB and whatever else, though I will provide some wine and iced tea and few munchies.

If anyone is interested, let me know. Also propose a good time. Perhaps next weekend?

Can't wait to see the TE girls at faire this weekend. Hope you're looking forward to Barter Town!

Got a question for you. I've got a few (if any of them make it out this weekend) new girls in IndoTribal Collective, and I'm hoping that you'll be willing to let us "play along" with you for a short dance. Have your girls leading really basic family stuff with us serving as the not exactly chorus, but secondary line? I'd really love for our newbies to get that thrill of seeing how two groups who haven't worked together can integrate and have a blast. That's one of the things we stress in beginner level, but until they feel it, there's just no getting the concept.

Regular classes are suspended this coming Thurs. because most of Tribal Evolution and Tribal Echo will be attending Tribal Dance Camp in Hunt, Texas. There will be an extra Thurs. class at the end of the session for a make-up. You may also come to any Tues. class left in this session to make-up this class hour if you would like to do that.

Tues, 4/8/08, classes are at the usual time and place.

TE is leaving to teach at Fusion Fest in Kansas City this weekend. Have fun at Al Amir ladies and give the "guest" dancer a big ole hug for me :) I miss her!!

This multi-level workshop will outline two tribal fusion combinations emphasizing technique and isolation. The first

Amy's Art of Overlay is at the heart of this intermediate toadvanced bellydance workshop aimed to add expressive layers and distinction to your dance style. Although controlled simultaneous movement is a complex idea, this class provides a simple approach certain to bring impressive results.Beginning with a thorough breakdown of basic isolation technique, Amy will expand such elements as core strength and relaxed tension, and then demonstrate helpful exercises that are necessary to develop an awareness needed to isolate key muscle groups. IMPORTANT - Please read if you plan on attending the NTMEDA workshop this weekend

In the words of Tribe – DONUT Freak Out!

We have encountered a small hiccup in our plans for this weekend’s workshop, but our NTMEDA board has dutifully fixed the problem!

There was a conflict (double booking) that was just realized by the Hurst Rec. Center. We have found an alternate location that may be more central for many of our members.

The times of the workshops are NOT changing, the classes offered are NOT changing and the instructors are NOT changing. The only thing that is changing is the venue.

All activities will now be located at the Grapevine Community Activities Center (1175 Municipal Way in grapevine). This location is just off of Main Street, directly behind the Grapevine Convention Center (where Yaa Halla Y'all is held). Same side of the road, same color brick, just a few buildings north of the Convention Center.

That's right! It time to start it up again!!

New 8 week session with Brandy of Tribal Evolution starts 1/15 and 1/17
Tues Basics from 7-8 P.M.
Tues Intermediate from 8-9 P.M.
Tues Advanced from 9-9:45 P.M.
Thurs. Basics from 7-8 P.M.
TE class Thurs. from 8-9:45 P.M.
All classes at the Hurst Rec. Center (700 Mary Drive Hurst 76053)
Classes are $40 for 8 weeks with a $3 fee if you are not a Hurst resident.

You can register anytime by:

You can register the night class starts if you come by a little early and as long as there is space available.

We have a fantastic show that has everything from Tribal to Tap Dance! We are excited to have Obsidia, Just Fabulous, Veda, Tribal Evolution, and Jessica Dawn! We also have modern dancers like Dancing Mind and Bodies, Daniel Mabry, Muscle Memory, and the tap dancing troupe the Rythem Junkies. It will be an exciting night of performances!

We will also be raising money to help support the AIDS Foundation of Houston! Just as we seek for dance to cross all boundaries, we looked for a charity that crossed many boundaries. In doing so we found the AIDS Foundation in Houston. They seek to serve many people, and they have a far reaching hand. Along with ticket sales, we have had some wonderful packages donated to help us raise money so we will be having a very small silent auction in the lobby for 3 packages for a night on the town! This is a wonderful opportunity to help raise more money for The AIDS Foundation as well as grab a night on the town for you and a friend!

Diffusion will be held in The Lyceum at The University of North Texas. 1155 Union Circle, Denton, TX 76203.

Tribal Evolution in Laredo!

Members of TE will be traveling to Laredo, Texas the weekend of November 17th to perform in Bell Cantu's Bellydance Spectaular (or something to that effect ;) ).

TE will be featuring a ITS set with Brandy, Beverly and Sarahbeth. Brandy and Sarahbeth will be performing a NEW Asian/ Tribal fusion piece and Sarahbeth will throw on the sparkely for a ballet/ cabaret solo.

We are looking forward to hangin' with the ladies on the boarder!

Hi Everyone!

Hope you all are well! I'm out of commission right now having had surgery on the 9th but I'm slowly trying to get back to normal and hope to be back out to play soon. :) I hope to see photos of the performances you all have been rocking at I'm sure! :)

In the meantime I have been working on getting one of the top Burlesque performers and teachers in the US down here for an intensive two day workshop (think 10 hours a day, but with breaks of course). We had originally hoped to have this next month but it was just too short notice for everyone that wanted to go. SO! We've pushed it back to February 23rd & 24th and have included a payment plan option to make it more accessable to everyone.

DRUMMERS AND DANCERS please join us. PURE is a performance art group that spreads awareness for causes we believe in and brings our art form out into the world guerilla style. www.puredance.org http://PURE-Dance.tribe.net

We cross many dance forms and are affiliated with no particular studio....this is an amazing opportunity for us all to join in a unified dance and help our world/community.

Our first meeting of the year will be on March 1 at the Hurst Recreation Center from 8-9pm. All subsequent meetings will be held on the 1st Thursday of the month as well. Please bring $3 to cover room rental and administrative paperwork (making copies).

In July, we will perform in the annual anniversary of PURE's first procession in NYC. All PURE chapters across the world perform on the same day to celebrate the anniversary. We will also be dancing at Kismet this year.

This group is democratic. Brandy and I are your facilitators, but we are here to help you and the group flourish. It's everyone's group and all ideas and input are welcome. At this meeting, we will

- Get your information
- Tell you about PURE
- Set date, time, and place for anniversary processional.
- Set date, time, and place for Kismet.
- Pick charities, events, or causes to spread awareness
- DANCE and DRUM!

If you have someone who doesn't wish to perform but would like to help, we also have assistant positions. These wonderful people join us at our procession and help us in many ways.

You may contact me or Brandy here on Tribe with any questions. Bring your calendars and be ready for a wonderfully meaningful and packed hour!

What a show right?! There will be Indian fusion, Gothic fusion, Cabaret, Tribal Fusion, Rom and possible a little Flamenco. You just don't wanna miss it :) Doors open at 7 P.M. and the show starts at 8 P.M.

Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. You can purchase tickets online by sending funds via www.paypal.com to the e-mail account pavalina@tribalevolution.com

Also, after the show, it sounds like a drum jam may break out. Bring your drum, zills, instrument, dancin' feet for some fun. Then we are going to take it through the hotel to Scuba Joe's for some karaoke and good times. You don't wanna miss this afterparty!

It was an awesome (and for me, sorely needed) weekend of workshops, dancin, laughter and fun.....The gala show was great, the after party was kickin (did anyone book Tamborine Man for next year?) and I got to spend time with some of my favoritest people AND make some new friends!!!

Questions about November Seminar

Some great questions have been e-mailed to me about the seminar so I thought I would post them here and also open a forum for others to ask questions.

Yes, Holiday Inn provides a free shuttle to and from DFW airport. Just let them know your arrival and departure time when you book your room.

Yes, the hotel is very close to the airport (about 5 minutes with normal traffic).

Yes, the hotel has really good food, reasonably priced breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Yes, food is served in the bar until 11 P.M. and I am working with the hotel to see if we can extend those hours on Sat. night. The nachos are fab!

Yes, there will be a raised stage for the show and during all classes.

New 8 wk. session starts next week

Tues, Sept. 5th: Basics 7 P.M., Intermediate 8 P.M. and Advanced 9 P.M.

Thurs, Sept. 7th: Basics 7 P.M., PURE 8 P.M., TE troupe 8:45 P.M.

You can register by going to the Hurst Rec. Center (700 Mary Drive Hurst, 76053). If you live far away or can't make it by before the night of class, you can come a little early and register on the first night. Get a internet user name and password when you register so that you can register online next time and save the waiting in line!
